Profitable production must include environmental protection.
We aim to achieve this by improving our environmental performance and avoiding or reducing environmental impacts.
It is a matter of course for us to comply with legal and regulatory requirements and other environmental interests, as well as the environmental protection standards we set for ourselves, and to exceed them wherever possible.
Sustainability is not a trend at Förster, but has been a part of our lives for years!
- We have been certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2004 since 2009.
- Since 2009, our production has been CO2-neutral through compensation.
- Since 2010 we have been able to create CO2 balances on request
- Since 2010 we have been manufacturing with natural electricity from water and wind power
From material to finished product
We integrate environmentally conscious and sustainable processes.
We believe that environmental considerations are a crucial priority when selecting products and services. This includes calculating and offsetting CO2 emissions.

The German Printing and Media Association (bvdm) has commissioned its partner Stiftung Unternehmen Wald (Company Forest Foundation) to plant trees in Germany.
Under the guidance of forestry experts, suitable areas are selected and planted with native and site-appropriate deciduous and coniferous species.
The aim is to create mixed, species-rich and stable forests that provide a richly structured habitat for plants and animals and are adapted to climate change.
Waste becomes a valuable resource!
Our production waste made of plastic, paper, textiles and composites is processed by the contracted recycling company using a processing plant and, for example, converted into substitute fuel, which is used in cement production.

We work with certified waste companies.
Short travel distances for collection and transport to waste incineration plants are important to us. Waste separation and recycling are practiced at Förster!
An outstanding example of this is our collaboration with ELM Recycling GmbH & Co. KG.
By recycling our waste, they make a significant contribution to environmental protection. The regional location also minimizes travel distances.
This conserves resources! In doing so, we make an important contribution to CO2 reduction and efficient domestic energy production.
At Etikettendruck Förster, one of our sustainability goals is to integrate the carrier waste generated during production into the circular economy.

PET-Liner
PET liners are mixed with other PET residues and regranulated into different qualities. These are sent to PET processors who use these granules in new applications such as garden tools, flower pots, benches, Carpets, packaging tags for transport and even works of art.
Glassine-Liner
The glassine paper is processed back into pulp and freed from impurities – mainly silicone and pigments. The recycled fibers are used for new applications: envelopes, high-quality paper boxes, new office supplies, decorative papers, and, of course, new label materials and backing papers. Some papers are also shredded and used as protective material in boxes for fragile products.

Following our successful EcoVadis assessment in February 2024, which resulted in a Silver award, we are pleased to announce a very special result today:
In June 2025, we were audited again by EcoVadis – and awarded the Gold Medal!
This award is a significant milestone for our company and a visible demonstration of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, responsibility and ethical conduct.
Only a small proportion of all comparable companies rated worldwide achieve this high level – which makes us all the more proud of this result.
